Dana Petrella - MCPCD, MCE

Hey there! I'm Dana—a doula based in Akron, a happy wife, a devoted mom of two, and the eldest of four siblings. My introduction to birthwork started in the 90's when my second brother was born. As I watched my step-mom breastfeed my brother, I fell in love with it. Even at such a young age I knew I wanted to breastfeed my children. Then as an adult, my passion for promoting community health led me to pursue a degree in Public Health at Kent State University. These are just some of my life experiences that became the groundwork for my dedication to supporting families.

When I discovered the transformative power of birthwork I found my true calling. With certifications as a Birth and Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, Babywearing Educator, and Infant Feeding Specialist, I'm dedicated to guiding families through pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

In addition to formal training, I bring firsthand experience as a mother, sibling, and aunt. I'm committed to ongoing education, continuously seeking new knowledge and skills to better serve families in our community.

My approach isn't about empowering you—*you're already powerful*. Instead, I aim to boost your confidence with judgment-free support and evidence-based information, drawing from my public health background and passion for all things pregnancy-related.

Whether it's managing pregnancy emotions, preparing for birth, or fostering family bonding, I'm here for you. I welcome families of all dynamics and I'm a mental health advocate.

Outside of birthwork, I enjoy going to the Akron Zoo, hiking at Springfield Bog, reading romantasy books on my Kindle, trip planning, and a good cup of decaf coffee or tea.

Please reach out and I'm excited to join you on this incredible journey!
